The philosopher Henri Bergson described in his work "Matter and Memory", 1896, a certain factor of the time: "la durée" (the duration). For him, duration describes the state of how something is experienced individually, whether one is bored or experiences something with tension. This bodily experience describes the communication between the work and the recipient and therefore also the objective experience of the atmosphere. The word atmosphere, which derives originally from the Greek word for haze = atmos and the sphaira = sphere, describes a state that envelops something in an invisible manner. Even acoustic images (sound and music) possess this potential in their immaterial form, a space, images, a continuum of images, or a mood to represent and communicate. The aesthetic and atmospheric consideration of spatial conditions is in the focus of the scenographic work. The space is usually viewed and staged from the perspective of the user or visitor. Scenography puts the user in the center by staging something else. Thinking, and the mediation of atmospheres and spatial mood of a concept is a challenge in itself: How do we perceive space? What role do the terms communication or time play in this context? How can events and experiences be planned?Scenography works in the fields of architecture, setdesign, exhibition design, spatial planning, theatre and installation, while scenographers create venues for events, they create atmospheres and tell stories in space.
I'm convinced that the impact of space and rooms and their atmospheres are evident.
