When you come to a country where you don't speak the local language you automatically dive into a new acoustic world. Speech then sounds like tones or music. Portuguese sounds different from German, Polish different from Italian. Seen in this way, every culture also has its own sound culture, quite apart from the local music.

How can that be released from its familiar sound world and acoustically immerse into another world? How much does what we see distract us from what we hear?

In the workshop I would like to create such sound worlds that should enable the visitor to the exhibition to submerge themselves from the exhibition and to immerse themselves in another world.

We build several modules that are closed from the outside, there is only a hole on one side to insert the head. The modules are equipped with several speakers inside. We produce the sound that will be heard and determine which sounds should be heard from which of the 6 loudspeakers inside. What happens in this area when sounds meet? Which sound comes from where? How do you choose sounds?

With the Ableton Live software, you will learn how to control your own surround sound in no time at all and how sound is more than just music coming out of speakers. We will look for sounds for it, record and edit them ourselves and create a sound collage that you can control live during the presentation.
